How To Set up a meeting between Your Atheist Partner and Your Evangelical Parents

Doesn’t your soul mate believe in souls and gods. But on the contrary, do your folks follow sacred beliefs? Here is how we get them going together.

You Will Need:

  • A meeting time
  •  A meeting place, preferably public
  •  Newspaper
  • A respect for both the sides
  • Diplomacy
  • A credit card or cheque

 Step 1:

Support your partner regarding his opinions about “ I need proof for existence of God”.

Step 2:

Give a brief description about“evangelicals” to your partner. Evangelicals believe in spreading the Gospel and have faith regarding the existence of the Lord.

Step 3:

Arrive at the restaurant 15 minutes early. This gives you the time and position as the host and allows you time for a quick drink so that you can catch your breathe before the grand meeting.

Step 4:

Give a warm greeting to your parents and avoid introducing your partner such as, “Mom, Dad, this is Ben, the atheist!”

Step 5:

Be sure to sit at the table in kicking distance of any leg.

 Step 6:

Previously that morning, make sure that you’ve read the newspaper so as to steer the conversation lightly towards entertainment and sports.

 Step 7:

When dinner arrives and your parents want to say a prayer, ask your partner to lead them in a small prayer even if he finds it tough. Help your partner prepare explanations for atheism and make sure that they don’t sound too rude, hurting your parents’ feelings.

Step 8:

Your partner is an atheist—no sense pretending otherwise—and you must support him of his personal conviction even if you or your parents don’t agree with it.

Step 9:

Pay with check or a credit card instead of cash because “In God We Trust” is on all the cash.
