John stepped into his home, all sweaty and tired from work and plopped into the couch and the next minute, something warm and soft and fragrant swooped over him onto his laps. He saw her green eyes sparkling with love and excitement that he remembered spotting it the first time they looked into each other’s eyes. She had something steaming hot in her hand and he realized that he was holding coffee for him from the smell that drifted off from it.
The pretty thing was all dressed up, he noticed. And she wore a pretty dress in black. She ruffled his hair and cooed gently in his ears about how much she loved and cared for him.
A few months later, John stepped back into his home, just the same. Sweaty and tired! And his pretty thing came running to him announcing him that there was a good news for him. John looked carefully at her and realized that the wicked girl knew how to seduce him. But, he discovered an extra glow on her face and she was swelling in happiness as she broke the news to John that she was expecting John junior soon. John could never forget how proud he had felt back then and how he loved his beautiful mermaid.
Those ten months passed with incessant love and care. Both for his pretty sweetheart and also for the naughty junior, paining and troubling her inside. And then came the day, which almost brought blood from John’s eyes as he saw her straining and struggling to give him his boy safely. The tender flower over which he took so much care as to not to hurt even a single finger nail was heaving and panting here as if a million knives were tearing her apart.
John didn’t care for the other women in the world then, but he badly wanted his lady not to endure the pain of childbirth. And as he prayed, God showed him some mercy by making it short. John saw his baby boy covered in miserable blood that came from her womb.
And as the years went by, her pretty face started to shrink, her green eyes started to turn blind and her jet black hair started to turn white. Yet, she was still the most beautiful woman John had ever seen.
Their son grew up to be a gentleman and he found himself a good wife as John did. And they were trembling to walk and scared of tripping. One day, his pretty wife started to clutch her chest in agony and John panicked unable to be of any help. She was shrieking her head out in pain as blood started to trickle down from her nostrils. The nostrils, which once upon a time, he praised to be the most beautiful nose ever was smeared with blood.
She was rushed into a hospital and she was taken away from John to an isolated cabin for critical conditions. There had not been a day where he was separated from her divine presence when he needed her the most. Today, for the first time, she was not near John as his heart was continuously begging for her.
And then John was asked to visit her. He walked as promptly as his injured knee would carry him to his love. And it was a sight that John had been dreading. She looked weak and pale and her eyes tiny and wrinkled. His pretty maiden laid in front of him the way he had never wanted her to…
“Please don’t leave me and go, Della!”, John pleaded her, his eyes blurred with tears. She scanned him completely for one last time, sucked in her last breath and she raised one trembling and wrinkled hand to John, her eyes still on his and she uttered one last unrecognizable word and stayed still.
Her eyes were not moving but staring at him, she was not breathing, but John’s heart was continuously pounding, gladly wanting to share its heartbeats with her. But she never knew what he wished that moment. It was death that split them apart and now is going to unite them again.
